FEIG ELECTRONIC earned international recognition for the new design of their OBID® classic / classic-pro wallmounted and desktop RFID readers. The “Good Design Award” is the most prestigious design award worldwide for new product design. Awarded annually by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, this honor recognizes innovation and cutting-edge industrial and graphic design and acknowledges, “world manufacturers for their pursuit of extraordinary design excellence”

Awarded design paired with highest functionality

The winning FEIG reader design is used in the 125 kHz product family OBID® classic (supports hitagTM, Unique, EM4102 etc.) as well as in the 13.56 MHz product family OBID® classic-pro (supports ISO14443 transponders like mifare®, my-dTM, JewelTM and also ISO15693 transponders).

The wall-mounted readers (ID RW02.10 / ID PR02.10) are used in access control applications. The appearance of these readers exceeds the demands of any critical design requirements from architects and facility managers.

The very thin USB or serial interface  ktop readers (ID RW40.30 / ID CPR40.30) are especially designed for Point of Sale applications like cash registers, terminals or reception desks. Due to their balanced appearance they can be integrated into any surrounding without any problem.

“We are very pleased with this great award” says Michael Rödig, product manager responsible for the development. “The co-operation between the FEIG development team and the design agency over the past several months has been profitable. Today we are able to offer product families that combine attractive design and the highest functionality, which far exceeds our competition.”

“The new design concept has been well-received by our customers and is an eye-catcher at every exhibition” explains marketing manager Andreas Löw. “Together with our great product variety, including interfaces and cryptographical upgrades, we are in an excellent position to introduce our products into applications like Ticketing, ePayment and NFC-based applications.”
